Medications can be very expensive.    There are some ways you can cut your costs.

First, ask you doctor if there is a generic equivalent.     Generic drugs are much cheaper than brand name medications.

Sometimes, you might need a medication that has no generic equivalent.   In these cases, it's worth checking out the manufacturer website for coupons that
may help reduce your co-pay.  Typically, the website will be the drug name.com (IE, www.drugname.com  such as www.advair.com  , www.nasonex.com ,
and so on).

If you still cannot afford your medication, there is additional help available.   For example, most insurance companies have programs in place to help those in
needs.  There are also state sponsored programs that can provide assistance.     I've listed the ones that I know of below.

AstraZeneca

GlaxoSmithKline

Merck

Teva Pharmaceuticals

PACE and PACENET   Prescription assistance programs by the State of Pennsylvania

NACo Prescription Discount Card Program  a program which offers a free drug discount card
